Our Mission

The Risen Lord Community was founded in the 1980’s in Sri Lanka with the mission of taking the experience of Baptism of the Holy Spirit in to the heart of the Catholic Church.

Who we are

The Risen Lord Community is a global lay movement operating within the Catholic Charismatic Renewal of the Church.

In 2017 Pope Francis described the charismatic renewal a “current of grace” within the Church, and it is our hope that all people will be drawn to this “current” and will experience the love and mercy of Jesus Christ.

We have ministries in Australia, Singapore, USA, Canada, UK and Sri Lanka, and are blessed to have the guidance and support of our priests and bishops.

We have a range of ministries that you can specifically connect with, or if you would like to get a taste of what we are about, we invite you to join us on our weekly Friday prayer meeting.

AboutLalith Perera

Lalith Perera, a lay preacher is the founder of the Risen Lord Community. Once an atheist, determined to disprove the existence of God, Lalith Perera’s life changed when he was baptised in the Holy Spirit in 1976 through the Catholic Charismatic Renewal in Sri Lanka.

Though being a cultural Catholic his entire life, Br Lalith says he had doubts about Catholicism by the time he was 15 and was a convinced atheist by age 19. By the age of 23, he was addicted to alcohol and cigarettes. During his university days in Sri Lanka he would stand outside churches and accost people as they came out, telling them there is no God.
