In today’s readings we see a comparison between the Joseph of the Old Testament and the “New Joseph” in the New Testament – the Lord Jesus. Joseph was unjustly handed over to the Merchants. The same is true in the life of the Lord Jesus. He was unjustly treated and was crucified, but His death brought victory to all. The famine in Egypt brought victory to other nations, because of the way God spoke to him through his dreams.
The readings are teaching us of the sacrifice of one man and the impact of it on the world. Maybe we feel rejected, misunderstood, lonely; but if we choose to look at the same situation through the perspective of God the Father, we will begin to receive new strength and be empowered to face the same situation in a new light. This empowerment is the power of the Holy Spirit in our lives, that is able to turn a curse into a blessing that will transform us and others. Today, we are called to be a blessing.
Prayer: Abba Father, we place before you, our situations. Give us the grace to go beyond and see these same circumstances through your eyes. Amen.
