When I was a child, I wanted to grow up quickly, i had many dreams. Now that I am older and i look back in to my life, i wish i never grew up. I wish I could remain as a child.
This is what Jesus is telling us in today. Unless we become like children, we will never enter the kingdom of heaven. It is the simplicity and devastating honesty of a child that God prefers, Children are pure of heart, they are free from corruption and free from evil. Jesus, teaches us, that ultimately all that matters is, not how much money we have earned, how much we have achieved in our life time, what matters at the end is our purity and simplicity of life.
Today we celebrate the feast Maximilian Kolbe a saint and a martyr, it is his simple life that led him to willingly sacrifice his life for a total stranger. He willingly put his hand up to die in a concentration camp during World War II to save the life of a total stranger who was beg- ging to be spared. This kind of love can only come from childlike simplicity.
Prayer: Abba Father, help us to become to become more like children.Give us a child like faith. Amen.
