The first reading of today often fueled me in my early walk with the Lord, as I used to fear the opinions of the world around me. I knew the Lord had called me into a closer journey with Him, yet I always had a foot in the world – until the Lord’s love drew me in and held me in His embrace. The woman in the gospel proclamation is a beautiful example. The Lord simply drew her in with His love and made her feel completely at ease. She may have even been a role model to others in the village because of her boldness. That was her proclamation of love for the Lord, and though it was ridiculed by those around her, she was performing for an audience of one. It was the Lord Jesus’ attention she was vying for, and in that moment, nobody else existed but her. That is how the Lord sees us, in each of our daily moments. Everything we do and say must be for the glory of God and it must be with Him in our hearts – else we may waste this life living for the approval of those who do not matter.
Prayer: Abba Father, help me to live with eyes for only you. Amen.
