Come follow me
  • Haggai 1: 1-8
  • Psalm 149: 1-9
  • Luke 9: 7-9

We are sometimes trapped in the rat race called ‘life’. There is such a compulsion in us to presume our world would not be complete unless we built our dream home, had much and were successful. Even if we had all these, our hearts would remain restless, searching for that true meaning, for our lives. In the 1st reading God reveals to prophet Haggai that all we possess, eat or drink would ‘never have our fill’, because we were created for more,   we were created for Him, then He calls us, ‘Come  build  My  house’. Jesus Christ knew the eternal reward of heaven, the  Pearl  of  great  price. No matter  the  pain  and  persecution  He  went  about  building  the  Kingdom,  delivering  the  oppressed  and  healing  the  sick. No wonder today’s Gospel proclaims Herod was perplexed when he heard all that had taken place and wanted to know who this was. How   are we living our lives today? Can we just stop for a moment; breathe in God, breathe out our own lives and hear His voice, ‘Come follow Me’.

Prayer: Abba Father, help us to surrender ourselves and take up our cross daily and truly follow You. Amen
