Scriptures tell us, it is humanity’s pride that led to its fall. Satan as the Scriptures tell us is a fallen angel who decided to disobey God. Jesus came to this earth to redeem us from this pride. Being the son of God, he humbled himself to the point of becoming one of us then, was obedient to God to the point of death and God exalted him to the highest point. In today’s reading Jesus, makes this strong comment: unless you become like a child, you will never enter the kingdom of Heaven.
If it is pride that led to the fall of humanity then, it is only through practicing the opposite of pride – humility – that we can enter the kingdom of heaven. Humility is a basic and essential virtue, yet how rarely do we see this. We have our own opinions about most things, and mot often we think we are right. There are tens of thousands of Christian denominations because we cannot have a dialogue and come to a consensus. If we humble ourselves, leaving our opinions behind, and become obedient to God’s word, he will forgive us.
Prayer: Abba Father, may we be humble like children. Amen.
