The first reading today is taken from the Book of Daniel which describes his vision of the four beasts. Visions are a way that God communicates to us. We have seen and heard of many stories of visions in the lives of Saints who are mystics. However, what should interest us is the fact that Mystics believe that visions are not the goal of the spiritual life. Most of them had their visions early in their journey and moved into a greater interiority of a spiritual communion with God. For those who have had similar experiences where we truly believe the Lord has spoken to us, His will for us is not to stop there but rather find Him more and more in this greater reality. As mentioned in today’s Gospel, we’ve become experts to analyse current situations and fix our future with regard to family, finances, work life. But it is always important to read the signs of the times not in the eyes of the world but through the Word of God. His invitation is clear today. We need to go deeper in this journey without getting stuck at certain milestones.
Prayer: Abba Father, I pray for spiritual vision, open my eyes to see Your will for my life and keep me from following my own natural inclinations. Amen
