Today we are reminded of our mission through the readings about the calling of St John the Baptist. He was called for a particular mission which he obeyed fully. When looking at his mission, we could think that the chances of been misled were possible as he too had to deal with a lot of love from people which can tempt someone in power. However, he was faithful to transfer the attention he was getting to the Messiah, at the right time and in the right way. St. John the Baptist never tried to steal the limelight from what mattered the most. In his mission and life, he valued his calling. He did not waver at any point. Are we similar in our calling? As we prepare for the coming of our Savior, it is the best time to ponder if we are living according to the calling we have received and how faithful we are. Do we draw attention to our Savior through our lives or are we still our own rock star desiring people’s love and attention?
