Today’s Gospel proclamation takes me back to the deep and transforming teachings of the CRL that we are children of God. This is a teaching that transformed my mindset from a feeling of an orphan when things got out of my control, to feeling like a favoured daughter, whose Father took control of every situation. Jesus says “Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons (daughters) of your Father in Heav- en.” The first reading and the psalm speak of keeping God’s command- ments and the greatest commandment that God has given us is to love Him and our neighbour. Jesus reiterates this in the Gospel proclamation so that as we love, we can boldly claim our inheritance as children of God. Amid many challenges at work and personal adjustments to COVID-19, the Lord showed me, that as I gave inner responses to those who were difficult to love, His grace, which is unmerited, was showered upon me. This is the power of obeying His commandment to love.
Prayer: Abba Father, I thank you for those difficult people and situations that make me claim my sonship or daughterhood. Amen.
