In today’s Gospel proclamation, Caiaphas the high priest condemning Jesus, foretold like a prophet that “Jesus is the one who should be sacrificed to save many”. In the first reading, Prophet Ezekiel prophesies about the Messiah. St. Paul writing to the Corinthians says that “Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures”. St. Peter in his first letter says “Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God”. We are redeemed by the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross. We who are finite and fallen have been restored and raised at Baptism to share in the eternal life of God himself. Let us not forget that we are already redeemed. Who is Jesus to me? Is he someone who has to give me my wants? Does our prayers consist mostly pleading for what we think is important? Let us not forget to give thanks with a grateful heart for the victory that Jesus has won for us and the price he paid . Let us spend time with Jesus daily and be filled with his love, listening to his voice and surrendering to his will.

Prayer: Abba Father, give us the grace to live the life that your Son Jesus has won for us on the cross. Amen.
