The Holy Spirit reveals to us the glory, the majesty, the grace, and love of our Savior. He gives us knowledge of the things of God, opening our eyes to the truths of Scripture, and forming our minds on the basis of these truths. (1 Cor 2:10-16). Through the work of the Holy Spirit, we are led to godliness and greater holiness. Jesus was crucified so that we may be redeemed and receive eternal life in the power of the Holy Spirit. However, as Saint Paul says to the Galatians, we often start with the spirit but end in the flesh. If we ask God for the Holy Spirit, the great gift from the Father, he will not fail us. The Spirit’s work is not in the realm of our feelings but our unshakeable faith, based on trust in the promises of God. Dry ground cannot produce fruit until it receives rain, in the same way, we too cannot bear fruit until we receive the gift of the Holy Spirit as rainfall from above. “Through the baptism that liberates us from change and decay we have become one in body, through the spirit we have become one in soul.” (Saint Irenaeus)
Prayer: Abba Father, take control of my life and may I experience the freedom and power of your presence in my life. Amen.
