“Listen, put it into your heart, most little of my children: let nothing frighten or grieve you, let not your heart be disturbed, do not fear any sickness or anguish. Am I not here, who am your Mother? Are you not under my protection? Am I not your health? Are you not happily within the folds of my mantle, held safely in my arms? Do you need anything more? Let nothing else worry you or disturb you”. These are the words of Our Lady of Guadalupe to St. Juan Diego spoken on this day in 1531. Mother Mary is reminding us to set aside our fears and place our complete trust in her son Jesus Christ. Mary’s words invite us to hold on to God’s power and grace that she received in a unique way at the annunciation. We are called to listen to God’s voice and say “Yes”, even when we do not fully understand it. This Christmas, let us recommit ourselves as disciples of Jesus, so that His saving presence and redeeming love will envelop our lives through the power of the Holy Spirit.
Prayer: Abba Father, we declare that your Word will accomplish what you desire and achieve its purpose for which you sent it. Amen.
