We see today’s Gospel Proclamation being fulfilled in the First Reading. The Lord Jesus had a desire to not lose anyone that was given to him. Further, we know that it is only after his resurrection that the Holy Spirit came powerfully upon the apostles, and baptised them in the Spirit. Thus, God’s fire and zeal soon spread from the apostles to others. The First Reading narrates signs and wonders, but also describes the persecution that followed. It is persecution that ultimately made the church grow stronger. The persecution that took place in Jerusalem, scattered the disciples. But, this turned out for good, as the people of Samaria were blessed by the power of God. The circumstance we are walking in, may look like a curse. However, God is waiting to turn that curse into a blessing. He is inviting us to fall at his feet, and give complete control back to him. Our humility, will then be an avenue through which our circumstances turn into blessings not just for us but for others as well.
