Let us think of a moment where we looked at a person and thought, “his punishment fits his crime.” We sinners so unworthy were given salvation, so freely and lovingly through the perfect sacrifice of the lamb of God. Jesus who sacrificed himself for us, is asking of us, for justice and mercy to others more than we demand it for ourselves. How can we hold a grudge against others when God’s salvation is for all people? Let us receive the Father’s forgiveness and forgive our brothers and sisters. Through the first reading God is giving us an invitation to reflect and represent him in what we do. There is no better way to depict the Father’s heart than through mercy and forgiveness. Let us surrender our lives to the Lord and ask him to cleanse us by the blood of his Son. Let us ask him to create within us a heart of mercy and love. Let us ask for his grace to accept others, to forgive others, to speak with love. He is a Father who sees the image of his likeness in his children beyond all flaws. May we receive the grace to see him in others.
