Nathaniel boldly shared his views with Philip about Nazareth. Philip had extended the invitation to Nathaniel to meet the Saviour first hand. “Come and see” was what Philip had to offer, in the wake of Nathaniel’s beliefs that Nazareth had nothing to offer. This is the same experience we have with various people we meet who have no touch of the Saviour. A certain person I spoke to, was quite certain that after our Lord Jesus died, his disciples had stolen the body and given history a false picture of the resurrection. What do we do when we meet such people? Do we argue? Do we curse and get angry? What does the Lord want us to do? Let us use this powerful invitation ‘Come and see’ and let us leave it to the Lord to birth faith in them. Our Lord did not fail Nathaniel but shared a vision of Nathaniel under the fig tree and Nathaniel could only exclaim, ‘Rabbi, you are the Son of God.’ As we extend this eternal invitation ‘Come and see’ let us believe that many will be touched by our Lord Jesus.
