Joseph the foster father of Jesus and the spouse of the Blessed Mother was a man of integrity and faith. Not much has been written of him in scriptures, yet from what has been we can assume that God’s greatest mission for Joseph was to be the protector and guardian of God’s greatest treasures (Jesus Christ and Mother Mary) on earth. St. Joseph may have been sad in finding out his beloved Mary pregnant before wedlock. In his darkest hour, he chooses integrity before emotions and decides to divorce her quietly. But when an angel speaks to him in a dream, he chooses to abandon himself to God and stay with the Blessed Mother. In a similar situation how would I have responded? Would I accept God’s word and assurance over my anguish and fears? Is my faith deep enough to believe God over my conceivable realities? Would I have the same courage to stand firm on God’s word and take action where needed? Could I pursue God’s mission in the midst of attack and anguish?
PRAYER: Abba Father, I know I can’t but you can. Send me your Holy Fire, let it burn in me and awaken a kingdom-hunger in those around me. Amen.
