The Psalmist proclaims – “Blessed is the man who takes refuge in our God”. He wants us to experience God for ourselves and to open our eyes and see the goodness of God that is all around us. The Lord hears the cry of the poor and blessed is the name of the Lord. When God hears, God acts. We often see people using empty words, but not following them with actions, so we come to a conclusion that God is like us. But the psalmist insists that we are called ‘blessed’ when we trust God. In turn God hears us and acts upon it. Those who are having nothing, will depend on God alone. Though the society may shun them, mock them and trample upon them, the Lord says that they are blessed as their resources are from him and not from the material world. We are constantly bombarded with the message to hoard more and more, so the basis of security for most of us is material possessions, which are limited and can be lost and stolen. Let us learn to depend on the Lord.
PRAYER: Abba Father, grant me the grace to bring you a sacrifice of praise, and may it be pleasing to you. Amen.
