In today’s first reading, we read about how Sts. Paul and Barnabas proclaimed the good news in the town of Antioch. The people became jealous and rejected their message. We too in our faith journey may face many rejections for our way of life even by those closest to us. However, we should not lose faith. We can be inspired by Sts. Paul and Barnabas who proclaimed the good news with boldness in the face of rejection. Are we also like the gentiles whose hearts were hungry for the word of God? Do we share the same passion of the disciples who were filled with joy and the Holy Spirit? In today’s Gospel proclamation, we read about Jesus telling the disciples that when they know him, they also know the Father. Jesus is disappointed with St. Philip who wants to “see” the Father to believe. St. Philip had been with Jesus for a long time but he still did not completely trust Jesus. Do we sometimes disappoint Jesus by asking for proof of what is said in the Word?
PRAYER: Abba Father, grant me the gift of faith to see you in the daily events of life. Amen.
