Give the first place to God
  • 2 Kings 11:1-4,9-18,20
  • Psalm 132:11-14,17-18
  • Matthew 6:19-2

In today’s Gospel proclamation Jesus is reminding us to not store up treasure on earth. However, we may think that it is not practical in this present world because many things are based on money and if we do not store up for our future we may lose our future plans. The Lord wants us to depend on him, because he has the best plan for our lives. We need to check our attitudes, like our pride, our jealousy and our anger. If we focus only on worldly things, our pride will build up because we feel that we are strong enough to control things and we may start to compete with each other. Because of these weaknesses we fall into sin and lose the connection with the Lord. Therefore, we need to be more mindful. We need to be more prayerful in our journey. While earning our keep, let us give first place to God. We need to be aware of his presence, because ultimately we have to say farewell to everything in this world. Let us focus our mind on the eternal One and surrender our lives to him.

PRAYER: Abba Father, take your rightful place: be the first in my life. Amen.
