Today’s first reading reminds me of Abraham testing God’s favour. It was during a time when people of Sodom had fallen into sin with no regards to seek God. Abraham asked God if he would save the city of Sodom if there were 50 good people, God replied, “I will save the city to keep them from being killed.” Abraham continued, every time reducing the number. God would have saved the city if there was even one good person. Jesus embraced death so we could live in peace and harmony. How merciful is the heart of our Father? Regardless of how sinful we are, he sees the goodness within us. Regardless of how weak we are, he sees our strength. Regardless of how dark our past was, he has already imagined a glorious future. Our forgiving God has a heart of love and mercy. If we are in doubt, thinking that we are unworthy of his love, God is reminding us, that his love for us is unconditional. “Nothing will be able to separate us from the love of God”.
PRAYER: Abba Father, we claim your love and forgiveness. Give us the grace to love and forgive others. Amen.
