Jeremiah was chosen as a prophet when he was in his mother’s womb. He was sent to ask the people of Israel to repent and turn to God at a time when they were drifting away from him. Many Old Testament prophets were rejected and persecuted when they proclaimed God’s message. The same treatment was given to Jesus by his people at Nazareth. They were not ready to accept him as the Messiah. We tend to look at the messenger’s background, family position, education and not listen to the message. On the other hand we do not like to be rejected or to suffer when we are messengers. We look for comfortable environments to do our mission. The Lord is inviting us to open our hearts to him and be filled with his presence and leading to be a messenger: at home, among our relatives, friends and at work places. We might face opposition but we need to fulfil our mission as a sacred responsibility. Let us unite in prayer with other missionaries who proclaim God’s word.
PRAYER: Abba Father, fill me with your Spirit to be your messenger amidst opposition and to be a light to others. Amen
