Be faithful to your vocation
  • Ezekiel 16:1-15,60,63
  • Isaiah 12:2-6
  • Matthew 19:3-12

Our God is a God of love, but our world is confused with the word love. The values of marriage and family are in danger. Today’s readings speak about the covenant relationship with God and the institution of marriage. It is not a contract but a covenant that lasts forever. It is an union of a man and a woman coming together for a life long relationship. We come from families. Without a commitment there is no family, no home and that leads to insecure societies. God created this world wonderfully and placed everything to satisfy our needs. The gift of marriage is special. It makes us partakers of God’s work of creation. We are not the ones who created this world, we are only caretakers or guardians. We need to rely on God’s providence and grace to discern on our calling in life: whether it is for marriage, religious life or single life. Each day, we need to pray for our vocation. “Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing one another in love” (Eph 4:2).

PRAYER: Abba Father, may I persevere in my calling. Amen.
