Merciful God
  • Ezekiel 24:15-23
  • Deuteronomy 32:18-21
  • Matthew 19:16-22

Today’s first reading and responsorial psalm take us back to an incident where God displayed his frustration towards an unfaithful generation. Many of us will question, “why did God get angry?” or “isn’t our God a forgiving God?” We understand God according to our limited human thoughts, feelings and emotions. How much hate and unfaithfulness can we tolerate? But, the great quality of God is, he always grants opportunities to redeem ourselves. Our faithful God will always create a clear pathway for our redemption. He has given us the 10 commandments to guide our lives. Let us follow his instructions and grow closer to him while growing in love and serving our brothers and sisters. All that we have, are blessings from God, therefore let us have an attitude of charity, where we will share our resources with others. Let us seek heavenly treasures instead of storing up earthly wealth. The Lord who is faithful will empower us on our journey.

PRAYER: Abba Father, lead us to your safe shore. Grant us the grace to follow your commandments so we may inherit the riches of heaven. Amen.
