Making decisions guided by the Holy Spirit
  • 1 Corinthians 6:1-11
  • Psalm 149:1-6,9
  • Luke 6:12-19

St. Ignatius of Loyola is renowned for his spiritual writings, particularly on discernment: the process of making decisions guided by the Holy Spirit. He shows us the significance of seeking God’s will in all aspects of life, specially when facing major decisions. Reflecting on our spiritual journey, how often do we turn to God in prayer for guidance before making decisions? Today’s Gospel proclamation serves as a poignant reminder of the importance of seeking God’s guidance before making significant decisions. Jesus retreated to pray before choosing his twelve apostles. The same apostles Jesus chose, laid the foundational groundwork for the Church through their faith, dedication and commitment to spreading the Gospel. Jesus’ choice of his apostles highlights God’s plan and purpose for each individual. Let us seek clarity and direction through prayer when confronted with different choices and discern our purpose and live it with intentionality.

PRAYER: Abba Father, walk before me, make my way smooth, steer my course, and instill courage in me. Amen.
