Twenty-sixth Week in Ordinary Time
Labourers for the Kingdom harvest
  • Job 19:21-27
  • Psalm 27:7-9,13-14
  • Luke 10:1-12

The Lord sends out his disciples on mission: to preach by word and deed the Good News of forgiveness of sin to enter the pre fallen state of humanity and bask in the reign of God. Many seem to refuse this invitation because it requires us to become vulnerable. Worldly requirements insist I must have financial resources to respond.

The Lord’s divine mission however states, that is not to be a criteria. No privacy, security or comfort our nature cries for. Aren’t we as disciples, called in our profession or state of life, to live this challenging way of life? Because we bring on the unfolding of God’s Kingdom. The world and society are in a state of chaos and turmoil, having the best of minds and powerful people yet little or nothing works right. Is it due to the refusal to live according to kingdom values? The Lord promises to give power to his disciples over the dark forces of evil, to cure diseases and what ails humanity. What a world we would have if we only dare to go on the Lord’s mission.

PRAYER: Abba Father, send us as laborers for your harvest. Amen.
