Twenty-seventh Week in Ordinary Time
Children of God
  • Galatians 3:22-29
  • Psalm 105:2-7
  • Luke 11:27-28

St Paul tells us that because of our faith in Christ we are sons and daughters of God. He is saying that, in Christ, all the barriers that divide one person from another are rendered null and void. In fact, we are all children because differences do not exist in the sight of God. God gave the law to guide the people of Israel as a way of preparing them for Christ. The time has now arrived and the path has been prepared for the world to receive Jesus. Belonging to Jesus in faith is all that is needed. Everything else will flow from that. In today’s Gospel we are told that those who are part of Jesus’ family are those who hear the word of God and act on it. We are challenged to hear the message of Christ in the Scriptures and to live by that message every day of our lives. As sons and daughters of God, we are called to participate in the spreading of his message. May he help us to appreciate his Word for what it truly is, a beautiful guide and a message of love.

PRAYER: Abba Father, thank you for calling me your son/daughter. Take hold of me and make me more like you. Amen.
