Twenty-eighth Week in Ordinary Time
Slavery vs Freedom
  • Galatians 4: 22-24, 26-27, 31-5:1
  • Psalm 113:1-7
  • Luke 11:29-32

What if we were asked to pick between slavery and freedom or wealth and poverty? The answer would be the convenient option. There is a story about a man who wanted to test God and his loyalty. He asked God to grant his wish to win a lottery. God agreed and said his wish will be granted. Days go by, the man did not win anything, he waited patiently but yet he did not win. He was so angry and questioned God why he did not grant his wish as God promised. In return, God responded saying, ‘my son, you never bought a lottery ticket for me to fulfil my promise’. Similarly, we go through life, blaming God when things do not go the way we want. But little do we know that we are not putting in the ground work for God to act. God reminds us over and again, it is only through the blood of Jesus Christ that we receive eternal life. God sacrificed his only Son so we may inherit the Spirit of God to experience the freedom and riches of his kingdom.

PRAYER: Abba Father, forgive us for taking your love and loyalty for granted. Thank you for your unconditional love. Amen.
