Twenty-ninth Week in Ordinary Time
Being Prepared
  • Ephesians 2:12-22
  • Psalm 85:9-14
  • Luke 12:35-38

In today’s Gospel we are reminded to be always prepared. We never know when the Master might knock on our door. Will we be ready to open the door for him? Perhaps there might be a particular distraction that might dim our lamps. Is the Lord calling me to be honest and real about some- thing? The Lord knows me better than I do myself and loves me as I am. His call to action always respects my reality. Being ready for the Lord could mean being open to the various ways that Jesus comes among us. One way is in the different situations in which we find ourselves, alive in love, understanding, care and prayer. If we ask ourselves what we are truly grateful for in our lives, there is a good chance that we will find God there. It could also be as a stranger knocking on our door. Would we welcome him? Would we be prepared? We do not know the time or place, but we do know that he unconditionally loves us and seeks us in whatever situation we find ourselves.

PRAYER: Abba Father, help me to be prepared. Amen.
