On the Feast of Saints Simon and Jude, we are called to reflect on the foundational unity of the Church established through Christ’s love. In today’s first reading, St. Paul describes the image of the Church as a spiritual household, built upon the apostles and prophets, with Jesus himself as the cornerstone. This passage emphasizes the unbreakable bond of love and communion among believers, regardless of their diverse backgrounds. In today’s Gospel, we witness Jesus’ intentional selection of the twelve apostles, including Simon and Jude, signifying the inclusivity and universality of God’s mission. Despite their differences, they were united in their commitment to follow Christ and spread his message of salvation. Today’s feast invites us to ponder our role within the mystical body of Christ and our responsibility to foster unity within the Church and beyond. Like Simon and Jude, may we recognize the importance of collaboration and solidarity in advancing God’s kingdom on earth.
PRAYER: Abba Father, may we foster unity in our missionary activities. Amen.
