Being obedient to God and doing what God expects from me gives meaning to my life. Adam and Eve doubted God’s word by believing the promptings of Satan that God will not look after them. Their disobedience to God not only brought disaster on themselves but also on humanity. But the good news is that Jesus, the new Adam, gave up his life in obedience to the Father. This opened the gates of heaven and brought forgiveness of sins. Today’s Gospel shows the blindness of those who rejected the invitation to a great banquet. It is the invitation to a life in eternity in the presence of God, praising and worshipping the King of glory. It is foolishness not to realise that this world is a temporary lodging while we are ‘on the way home’ and our earthly possessions will have to be left behind. Do we desire possessions, work and relationships over the treasures of heaven? Let us not lose our way by getting attracted to things that will fade away.
PRAYER: Abba Father, give us a heart of obedience to seek your will throughout our lives. Amen.
