True identity
  • 2 John 4-9
  • Psalm 119:1-2,10-11,17-18
  • Luke 17: 26-37

Do we think about what our identity reflects? Our identities are like seeds thrown in the ground, some flourish and others wither away, some shine and blossom into big trees for generations but others just wither and die out. The Word is there to sustain us and strengthen us to carry on in life but when we do not carry the word of God in our hearts, we will be withered and broken. Let us turn back to God and allow his word to shift our identity. As children of God, we are to follow the commandments of God, to observe the Law of God. Let us be obedient to God because he has shown us through his word how to behave and conduct ourselves. God leads us, protects us and guides us. In today’s Gospel reading, Jesus urges us to have a relationship with God, our Father. Jesus is reminding us that we must give up the things of the world to inherit the kingdom of heaven. We must die to our earthly pleasures to have everlasting life in the Kingdom of God.

PRAYER: Abba Father, help us to embrace our identity as your beloved children. Amen.
