From the temporal to the eternal
  • Revelation 11:4-12
  • Psalm 144:1-2,9-10
  • Luke 20:27-40

The Sadducees held the view that there is no life after death. Even today we hear that same voice through the talks of skeptics. Nothing we love and hold here are eternal. We are here on a pilgrimage. Through our encounters with Christ we increase our knowledge of him, preparing our lives for eternity. We brought nothing and we take nothing from our earthly dwellings. It is only our renewed spirit which paves the way to our resurrected body. Jesus said, “Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live.” What amazing good news for us who place our trust in Jesus. Thus we can look forward to a transformed and transfigured life in our resurrected bodies in the heavenly abode. How do we pass from the temporal to the eternal? Through our baptism into Christ. Because in baptism we were also baptised into his death and resurrection and became part of God’s family. We became one with God and co-heirs with Christ. The old has gone and the new has come.

PRAYER: Abba Father, help me die to self through little acts of love and thereby prepare for eternity. Amen.
