God’s promises will never fail
  • Genesis 49:2, 8-10
  • Psalm 72:1-4,7-8,17
  • Matthew 1:1-17

The first reading prophesies about the lineage of the Messiah, tracing the royal lineage through the tribe of Judah. This passage foretells the coming of a ruler who will bring ultimate authority and sovereignty, fulfilling the promises made to the patriarchs. The Gospel reading meticulously details the genealogy of Jesus, tracing his ancestry through the line of David, confirming his rightful place as the long-awaited Messiah. As we reflect on these readings, we are reminded of the fulfillment of God’s covenant promises through the birth of Jesus. The genealogy in Matthew underscores the divine orchestration of history, highlighting God’s faithfulness in fulfilling his redemptive plan through generations. As we anticipate the celebration of Christ’s birth, we are invited to ponder the significance of his coming and to prepare our hearts to welcome him anew. May this season of anticipation deepen our faith and draw us closer to the profound mystery of God’s incarnate love manifested in Christ.

PRAYER: Abba Father, may your promises be fulfilled in my life. Amen.
