As we prepare to celebrate the birth of Jesus, we do so living in the same wilderness that underpinned today’s message (Mal 3:14-15). In the midst of this wilderness we desperately seek God in the trials and tribulations that engulf us. The good news is that, the promised Messiah has already come, he trailblazed our path back to God, to peace and healing amidst the chaos and pain. As we seek this reconciliation and healing, as we seek to be set apart for God through our own trials, God calls us to surrender ourselves to his process of purification. The furnace is not comfortable but the peace and comfort after are indescribable. This Christmas, as I place baby Jesus in the crib, will I also place him at the centre of my being? Will I offer up my impurities and walk through that fire willingly or will I remain in the wilderness? Will my life inspire others to carry Jesus in their hearts and talk about him across the mountains? Can I be the voice in someone’s darkness?
PRAYER: Abba Father, teach me your ways and help me walk in your truth. Amen.
