On Christmas Eve, as we eagerly anticipate the coming of our Savior, the readings speak of divine promises, God’s faithfulness and our salvation. In the first reading, King David’s desire is met with the reassurance that it is God who establishes David’s house and kingdom forever. This passage reminds us of God’s faithfulness to his chosen ones and his commitment to fulfilling his promises, regardless of human intentions or actions. It is noteworthy that while we may have many wishes, we must wait for God’s timing. We should not try to overstep and act on our accord because our plans seem good. We must align ourselves with God’s will. As I reflect on these readings, I am reminded of God’s faithfulness in my life. Despite my shortcomings and uncertainties, God remains steadfast in his promises. Just as he established a covenant with David and fulfilled it through Jesus, he continues to guide me with his tender compassion and lead me into the way of peace.
PRAYER: Abba Father, may I trust in your faithfulness and find hope in your promises, knowing that your love endures forever. Amen.
