Eternal Mediation
  • Hebrews 7:25-8:6
  • Psalm 40:7-10,17
  • Mark 3:7-12

Today’s first reading highlights Jesus’ eternal priesthood and the superiority of his ministry. Jesus is depicted as our perpetual intercessor, able to save those who come to God through him. Jesus’ sacrifice was perfect and he is the mediator of a covenant founded on better promises. His priesthood surpasses the old covenant because it is unending and directly connected to God’s ultimate plan for salvation. The Gospel describes Jesus’ growing ministry, drawing immense crowds due to his healing power and teaching. People from various regions flock to him, seeking relief and restoration. This passage shows Jesus’ compassion and authority, as he heals many and commands unclean spirits, emphasizing his divine nature and the impact of his earthly ministry. These readings show Jesus as the eternal mediator and the compassionate healer. His priesthood ensures continuous access to God, while his earthly ministry reflects his empathy and power. Let us trust in him, and draw near to him.

PRAYER: Lord Jesus, may we trust your eternal mediation and healing power. Amen.
