Our God is a personal and relational God. He places great importance on the matters of the heart, hence he inscribed the new law upon our hearts. Today’s first reading reveals to us the nature of the Father’s heart and his longing for connection with his children. “I will be their God, and they will be my people”. He offers us a new law with a mercy clause. The path to his heart is an open highway, because he has removed every hurdle. In today’s Gospel reading, Jesus chose the twelve apostles. He wanted them to be at his side as his friends, and we see how he entrusts them with his authority. The Lord Jesus seeks to have a relationship with us. Not one of mere servitude, but one of deep friendship. Our God knows us, but he also longs to be known by us. Through the cross, Jesus invites us to divine partnership, deeper intimacy and perfect love. We are invited to gain more awareness of God. Let us choose to know and be known by Jesus.
PRAYER: Abba Father, take me deeper into your heart. I desire to know you in a new way. Amen.
