Today we celebrate the Memorial of one of the Church’s greatest theologians and philosophers, whose insights into faith and reason continue to inspire. The first reading emphasizes the insufficiency of the old sacrificial system and the ultimate fulfillment found in Christ’s sacrifice. This reading calls us to embrace the wisdom of Christ’s perfect offering, which sanctifies and aligns us with God’s will. In the Gospel reading, Jesus redefines familial bonds, stating that whoever does the will of God is his brother, sister and mother. This radical redefinition places obedience to God’s will at the heart of true kinship with Christ. It challenges us to prioritize our spiritual family and live according to divine wisdom. St. Thomas Aquinas exemplified the pursuit of divine wisdom through his dedication to understanding and articulating the truths of faith. His life and works remind us that true wisdom comes from aligning our will with God’s and seeking a deeper understanding of his truth.
PRAYER: Abba Father, grant us wisdom to seek and follow your divine will. Amen.
