Let us reflect on divine judgment, mercy and the need for spiritual understanding. In Genesis, the wickedness of humanity grieves God, leading to his decision to cleanse the earth through a flood. Amidst this, Noah finds favor due to his righteousness and obedience. God instructs Noah to build an ark. Noah’s unwavering faith and obedience to God’s commands ensure their survival, highlighting how righteousness and adherence to God’s word bring salvation amidst judgment. In the Gospel reading, Jesus warns his disciples about the “yeast of the Pharisees and Herod,” metaphorically speaking of their corrupting influence. The disciples, however, misunderstand, thinking Jesus is concerned about bread. Jesus reminds them of the miracles of feeding the multitudes, questioning their lack of understanding. Let us remember God’s provision and power, see beyond the physical and grasp spiritual truths. Let us heed the call to righteous living.
PRAYER: Abba Father, open our hearts to understand and obey you. Amen.
