Today’s first reading appears to be rather harsh: “cursed is the man who trusts in man.” It continues onto say “Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord.” There are two kinds of people in the world and the difference is in whom they trust. Those who trust in the Lord will always be blessed. However it does not mean that bad things may not happen to them. Jesus said that “in the world you will have trouble” (John 16:33), but those who trust the Lord will continue to flourish and be fruitful, even in those times of trouble. No one can understand the heart, but God does. God sees beyond our behavior and understands our heart. God sees how our behavior reveals our heart. Fear may come and anxiety linger, but an abundant life is guaranteed. The key is to keep trusting the Lord with all our hearts, rather than in human beings. He sees deep within our hearts, that out of our hearts come the behaviors of life. Let us ask for his grace to help us trust him more.
PRAYER: Abba Father, may I wholeheartedly trust you. Amen.
