A repentant heart is what we need
  • Isaiah 7:1-9
  • Psalm 48:2-8
  • Matthew 11:20-24

Today’s Gospel reading seems to echo the idea of God in the Old Testament. In the Old Testament, Sodom and Gomorrah represented people who had strayed from the righteous path. The Lord reproached the people whose hearts were hardened and were not repentant. He desires that everyone would seek him and be saved. Our lives are filled with decisions. Are we taking the right decisions? Do we stop a moment to ask the Holy Spirit for the wisdom for our choices? If we do, we can be assured that we will continue to have a heart that is open to hear from above and not fall into the trap of the enemy thus avoiding eternal damnation. As I read this I feel the pain and disappointment in the heart of God. Did he not send his only begotten Son to deliver us from all evil? And yet, why do we continue to be bound by sinful desires? Let us look at the lives of the saints and learn to walk in holiness and set an example for the generations that will come after us.

PRAYER: Abba Father, renew my heart and help me to recognize my sins so that I will continue to rise and come out of them. Amen.
