Today in the Scriptures we are reminded again of the abundance of God’s mercy and grace for His children. The only intention that God has for us is eternal salvation. What can prevent us from receiving it? Through the first reading, Saint Paul reminds us how the abundance of God’s mercy outperforms the effects of evil and how the unending fountain of Mercy is made available to us through His only Son, our Lord Jesus. How is our attitude towards the love of the Father? How many of us are preparing ourselves for the second coming of the Lord Jesus? Our attitude towards the Lord’s second coming depends on how we have responded to His first coming. If we have eagerly accepted the Lord’s first coming, we should be eagerly waiting for his return too. Let us examine our hearts to understand the areas that we need to fix within ourselves, so we stay prepared, dressed and with lamps lit waiting for the Master.
Abba Father, through your love and mercy, let us be heirs of your kingdom as we prepare ourselves for the second coming of Jesus. Amen.
