“Arise! Shine, for your light has come, the glory of the Lord has dawned upon you.” Our world is more or less engulfed in darkness. Not a day passes without us hearing about murder, cruelty and suffering. What better news to such a world than the above words of prophet Isaiah. The Gospel reading explains how it was first revealed to the Magi, wise men from the East. It was not any star they followed, but “his Star” as the Gospel writer specifies. We too are given a “star”: the Word of God. Is our offering, be it our time, talents or money, worthy to be presented to the King? Or do we keep the greater part for us and try to “tip” him? Is Jesus given the first place? The Magi refused to listen to the worldly powers. They risked the wrath of the king and chose to follow supernatural guidance. Do we turn our back to the world’s wisdom and choose Divine Wisdom, that is available for us from the Holy Spirit? Let us make some choices today, learning from the Magi.
PRAYER: Abba Father, thank you for revealing the mystery of Christ. Amen.
