Be ready for God’s surprises
  • Isaiah 7:10-14
  • Psalm 24:1-6
  • Luke 1:26-38

When things are going our way, it’s easy to live by faith. But when things go awry, as so often they do, it’s tempting to look for something more tangible and concrete to hang our hats on, and to take matters into our own hands. King Ahaz and the people of Judah were surrounded by forces that threatened to destroy them, however, Isaiah said, “Stand firm in your faith”. David was known as the “Shepherd King” of Israel. Yet, he speaks as if he was one of the flock and it is as though he said aloud, “Look, my Shepherd is the Lord.” The Blessed Mother shows us how to respond to God’s surprises. She offered herself to God in faithful, free submission. The favour of God is worth any discomfort. God chose Mary to give birth to his Son but she also had to face public shame. We too can trust God in the most difficult circumstances because no problem is too big for God to handle. Will we be ready to say “Yes” to God, even when it seems impossible?

PRAYER: Abba Father, we pray for awakened spirits to respond with supernatural love so that our hearts will be aligned to your will. Amen.
