Be Transformed
  • 2 Thessalonians 2:1-3,14-17
  • Psalm 96:10-13
  • Matthew 23:23-26

Jesus is calling us to a deeper examination of ourselves. The scribes and Pharisees did tithing but neglected justice, mercy and faithfulness. Are we too falling into the same category? Have we fallen into self righteousness and forgotten love, justice and mercy? Jesus is teaching by using an example of a cup and a plate. What dirt there will be, if the inside of a cup and a plate are not washed. Outwardly we may appear well mannered and good. But greed and self indulgence will make our inner being impure. We can be caught up in these even without our knowledge. We need to reflect on how we react when going through various situations. Greed may be revealed if we keep an open mind and reflect on our own actions, thoughts and words. If there is some discord in our sphere of influence, we need to reflect if our hidden greed is contributing to the problem. Is it feeding “the passions of the flesh”? (1 Pt 2:11). Let us give the truth about ourselves to God, so that he can transform us.

PRAYER: Abba Father, fill us with your Holy Spirit so that we will be transformed and able to let go of what is not from you. Amen.
