Bearing the fruits of God’s Kingdom
  • Exodus 33:7-11, 34:5-9,28
  • Psalm 103: 6-13
  • Matthew 13: 36-43

How blessed we are! We no longer have to stay away from the Tent of Meeting. Thanks to the gift of the Holy Spirit, the divine presence is within us. God is not outside, in one building, he lives in our hearts. So his law is also written in our hearts as the prophets said. In the Gospel, Jesus explains a beautiful parable. God has sown his seed in our hearts at Baptism. But as the Word grows within us, the enemy does not stand by. He sows seeds of doubt, anger, jealousy and other vices. So which seed will grow well? We are constantly reminded to sit at the feet of Jesus, so that he can minister to us. As we repent, the Lord will uproot those weeds. And there will be more room in our hearts for God’s word to flourish. Our actions will be the sign of which seed is bearing fruit. Regardless of our current fruits, God’s mercies are new every morning. So let us renew our hearts, uproot a few weeds, and nourish and nurture the Word of God.

Prayer: Abba Father, may your Word grow in me, and may its fruits nourish those around me. Amen.
