We are victorious people! God has won the victory for us. The best thing that could happen to us is to encounter and have a personal relationship with Jesus. Moses had a personal relationship with God and God’s favour was upon Moses. When Moses was interceding with his hands raised high, God won the victory for them and Joshua fought physically while Moses fought spiritually. In the second reading Paul and Silas experienced the same favour of God. Both of them were deeply in a relationship with the Lord, who worked miraculously to set them free. Something remarkable is that when the prison doors were opened, they did not move out and that shows their inner freedom because of their relationship with the Lord. The Gospel proclamation gives us a clear picture of God’s favour upon the Blessed Mother; her compassionate heart stirred Jesus to perform his first miracle. In recent decades, we sought the intercession of the Blessed Mother to protect Sri Lanka during the World War II, and she answered our prayers.
Prayer: Abba Father, give me the same compassionate heart of the Blessed Mother. Amen.
