The first reading illustrates how the world is redeemed through the servant of God. Jesus would have read this and become strengthened because of the plan of God that was to be fulfilled in him. God made the words of Jesus a sharp edged sword which cut off the sinfulness of humans and a polished arrow which pierced the hard hearted hearts and transformed the world. Getting closer to Golgotha Jesus speaks of the one who betrays and denies him. Let us awaken to examine our depths to find out our inner responses in facing rejections and betrayals. Can we do what our Lord did? Jesus would have proclaimed the promises in the psalm “be my rock and refuge, my stronghold, for you are my rock and fortress.” His one hope and focus was Abba Father. This is our strength as well. Not being focused on what people do and say but allowing the love of the Father to embrace us. Let us proclaim his promises in the middle of storms and sufferings. We too can partake in the victory of Jesus.
PRAYER: Abba Father, I believe in your unconditional love, strengthen me by your promises to be a witness to others. Amen.
