How sensitive are we to the signs and voice of the Holy Spirit? If we put ourselves in the time of Jesus, how would we react to the calling of John the Baptist and the call to repentance? Would we pause and take stock of our lives and how we are leading it? Or would we dismiss this calling and continue walking in the flesh? The Jews were so rigid in following the law that the Spirit did not have a chance to work in them, for them to realize that something great was unfolding right in front of their eyes. Jesus is calling us to a life in the Spirit, a life that is so led by the word of God that His Spirit dwelling in us can increase and our own desires can decrease. That same Spirit can open our eyes to SEE Jesus in our brothers and sisters in need, and respond accordingly. We can joyfully say “YES LORD!” when he asks us: “When I was hungry you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, a stranger and you invited me in…”
Prayer: Abba Father, guide me to be sensitive to your voice and leading in my life. Amen.
