Christmas Joy
  • 1 John 2:12-17
  • Psalm 96:7-10
  • Luke 2:36-40

Today’s readings illuminate the essence of Christmas joy. In today’s first reading, we are reminded of the love of God as the source of our joy, a love that transcends worldly pleasures and endures for eternity. It calls us to embrace the simplicity and purity of heart that characterize the Christmas season. In the Gospel reading, we encounter the devout prophetess Anna, whose life is a testament to unwavering faith and joyful anticipation. Despite life’s trials, she remained steadfast in her devotion, recognizing the infant Jesus as the fulfillment of God’s promises. Her example inspires us to approach each day with a spirit of gratitude and hope, knowing that God’s presence brings true fulfillment. As we reflect on these readings, let us become aware of the joy that Christmas brings. Not a fleeting emotion but a profound sense of inner peace and contentment found in relationship with God. Let us embrace this joy wholeheartedly.

PRAYER: Abba Father, thank you for the gift of true peace and joy. Amen.
